CHESTER — Fire crews from at least half a dozen counties are working to control a large fire near Chester.
Woodward County Emergency Management Director Matt Lehenbauer said the blaze is centered approximately four miles north and two miles east of the town.
As of 6:30 p.m., Lehenbauer was unsure of the exact size of the fire and how it got started.
Lehenbauer called it the largest fire in northwest Oklahoma since February. Smoke from the fire was blowing as far east as Enid.
