Enid police arrested a 49-year-old man on complaints of possessing child pornography after receiving a tip from the man’s wife.
Enid Police De-partment Capt. Dean Grassino said James W. Daniel Jr. was arrested July 3 following an interview with detectives.
The department learned from Daniel’s wife July 2 she had “located several computer disks belonging to her husband that she believed contained child pornography.”
“She described some of the children in the images as being 2 or 3 years old,” Grassino said.
Detectives went to Daniel’s residence and seized his computer, as well as several computer disks. Grassino said the disks contained both video and still photographs of young children engaging in “various sexual ac-tivities with adult men.”
Daniel, who works as a teacher for Oklahoma Department of Cor-rections, was not home at the time but he agreed to meet with investigators when he returned to Enid.
Daniel was interviewed by detectives July 3 and subsequently was arrested on a complaint of possessing child pornography.
Detectives still are examining the computer and disks, and depending on what is obtained additional charges are possible, Grassino said.
Enid Public Schools records show Daniel was a student teacher at Emerson Junior High School and Enid High School during the second semester of the 2000-01 school year .
Daniel is being held in lieu of $50,000 bond. No charges have been filed in Garfield County District Court.
