A show from Broadway, comedian Chelsea Handler, The Fab Four Beatles group and Animal Planet host Jeff Corwin highlight the 2008-2009 Panorama series at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford.
Four events are planned during the year, according to Panorama committee chairman Brian Adler. They are:
• Oct. 7 — Revolution … Theatre for the MTV Generation
• Nov. 11 — Tales from the Field with Jeff Corwin
• March 7 — Comedian Chelsea Handler
• April 14 — The Fab Four Tribute to The Beatles
All events begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Fine Arts Center on the SWOSU campus.
Driven by the power of rock and the heartbeat of percussion, Revolution on Oct. 7 will combine live music and some of the world’s best Irish and tap dancing. The ensemble of dancers direct from Broadway is joined by a four-piece band and live video to create an energetic event.
Animal Planet audiences know Corwin as host of “The Jeff Corwin Experience.” His program on Nov. 11 at SWOSU will feature exotic animals and audience members will be called on-stage to interact with the animals and Corwin during the show.
Comedian Chelsea Handler will be at SWOSU on March 7. The nightly TV host of “Chelsea Lately” is a fast-rising star who has a wide following. She recently wrote a popular book entitled “Are You There, Vodka? It’s Me, Chelsea.” Handler has also been a correspondent on the Tonight Show as well as co-host of The View.
The final Panorama event of the 2008-09 year will be a performance by The Fab Four in a tribute to The Beatles. The Fab Four recently performed at the Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas and has performed numerous times at the Las Vegas Hilton. The show includes three costume changes representing every era of The Beatles.
