Local officials investigate string of home burglaries

Garfield County Sheriff’s Office is investing three burglaries to county homes and properties.

Undersheriff Jerry Niles said the office was investigating the burglaries which date back as far back as June 1 and as recently as Sunday.

According to reports, a burglary occurred Friday in the 400 block of West Centennial Road. Niles said the burglary occurred sometime that morning and a 32-inch Sylvania flat-screen TV was taken.

The sheriff’s office also is investigating a burglary that occurred Saturday in Covington in the 200 block of West Quincy.

Niles said the burglary occurred sometime between June 1 and Saturday. Items taken during the burglary include a 12-gauge shotgun, a flat-screen television, two guitars and a safe. Niles estimated the loss of property at $2,800.

In addition, deputies are investigating the theft of a Lincoln mig welder sometime between June 21 and Sunday from a shop in the 24,600 block of East Oklahoma 164.

Anyone having information that will lead to an arrest or prosecution is asked to call Garfield County CrimeStoppers at 233-6233 or Garfield County Sheriff’s Office at 237-0244.
