Students ‘hit the road’ in Park Avenue’s art show

Awards will be presented today for the summer student art show, “Hit the Road, Jack,” sponsored by Park Avenue Thrift and several Enid car dealers.

The show was organized by Park Avenue Thrift in partnership with Jackson’s Chrysler-Dodge, Janzen GMC-Jeep, Northcutt Chevrolet-Buick-Toyota, Stevens Ford-Lincoln-Mercury and Stuart Cadillac-Nissan.

Fifty-three students created car art that was judged by Paul Dean Franklin, local artist and car enthusiast.

Winning entries will be on display in Emerging Artists Gallery at Park Avenue Thrift, 507 S. Grand, and all other entries will be displayed at participating car dealers through July.

Awards will be handed out 6-8 tonight at the First Friday event at Park Avenue Thrift.

Participating car dealers will have cars on display, and the Jazz Daddies will perform. Beve-rages and balloons will be provided. At 7 p.m., winners will ride around the downtown Square.

Receiving awards were:

• High school drawing — Alexander Lewis, first.

• Middle school drawing — Alexandra Lewis, first.
