A 21-year-old Enid man faces a life sentence if convicted of larceny of an automobile.
Brandon Lee Schoonover was arraigned Thursday on the felony count, which is punishable by nine years to life in prison because of two prior felony convictions.
The charge accuses Schoonover of stealing a Toyota SR5 truck sometime between May 21 and 25.
According to an affidavit filed in the case, the owner of the truck reported the vehicle stolen from his home in the 6000 block of East Hayward to Garfield County SheriffÕs Office May 26.
The man said the truck was found burned in Major County and a neighbor had witnessed the theft, according to the affidavit. He also said several thousands of dollars of tools also had been taken.
A deputy spoke with Schoonover June 11 and questioned him about the stolen truck.
During the interview, Schoonover admitted to taking it, stating he and another man had taken it. He said at some point the truck quit working and they set fire to it to destroy any fingerprints, according to the affidavit.
Schoonover is being held in lieu of $20,000, and he was ordered to return to court Aug. 3 for a bond appearance.
