Enid native and opera star Leona Mitchell joined several other residents in working with kids attending the recent Leona Mitchell Music Camp at Keystone Lake.
Angela Molette taught campers how to conquer stage fright and learn singing styles and camp and water safety. She joined Al Molette, Ramona Nazario and Mitchell in teaching children how to harmonize and sing in a large group.
This yearÕs non-opera number, which the students helped develop, was ÒMake Me Over.Ó The production created excitement and friendships and fostered teamwork, said Barbara Finley, who welcomed students to the camp.
Opera coaches Elmer Bush and Mitchell presented the opera ÒLa Boheme.Ó
Mitchell translated the language and sang to showcase the use of opera voice. Students then performed an interpretive scene from the opera.
