Garfield County Sheriff’s Department deputies have interviewed three suspects in a series of fires Tuesday.
Undersheriff Jerry Niles said the three men all are over 18. He said no arrests have been made and the investigation is continuing. He anticipates information being forwarded to the Garfield County District Attorney’s Office.
Thirty-five round hay bales were destroyed, Niles said. Each has a value of $80, making the total $2,800. Some growing corn also was damaged, but Niles said he did not have a value on it.
Firefighters from Douglas, Fairmont, Waukomis and Pioneer-Skeleton Creek battled fires at three places between Douglas and Waukomis, Niles said.
Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s office at 237-0244 or Garfield County Crime Stoppers at 233-6233.
