The State Chamber of Oklahoma recently honored Vance Air Force Base Maj. David Aumack as a Champion of Freedom.
The award was presented June 18 at the chamber’s annual meeting at Fort Sill.
Aumack is T-6 flight safety officer at Vance. He worked with the Afghan national army air corps during Operation Enduring Freedom and recently returned to Vance less than four months ago.
“We are here today to salute America’s Champions of Freedom,” said Steve Turnbo, outgoing chairman of The State Chamber, at the ceremony. “In some cases, that’s the single mom taking care of her children and going to night school to earn a degree, and, in other cases, it’s the neighbor helping after a natural disaster has wiped out a family in the area. Today, though, we want to specifically thank our active duty military, our war fighters, for serving America and truly being our Champions of Freedom.”
Army Lt. Gen. David P. Valcourt, deputy commanding general/chief of staff of the Army Training and Doctrine Command in Virginia, delivered the keynote address.
