Buck recognized by USAA



Brandon Buck, of Enid, has been recognized by United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in mathematics.

Buck, a Longfellow Middle School student, was nominated by teacher Natalie Beebe and will appear in the USAA’s yearbook, published nationally.

“Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever in America’s history. Certainly, United States Achievement Academy students should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement,” said Dr. George Stevens, USAA founder.

USAA recognizes fewer than 10 percent of American high school students upon recommendation of teachers, coaches, counselors and other qualified sponsors based on academic performance, interest and aptitude, leadership qualities, responsibility, enthusiasm, motivation to learn and improve, attitude, cooperative spirit and dependability.

Brandon is the son of Preston and Roberta Buck, Enid, and the grandson of Randy and Dolores Buck and Sharon Buller, all of Enid, and Janet and Jerry Wilson, Drumright.





Graduates enroll at SWOSU



Several area students are part of a group of 618 recent high school graduates who enrolled for the fall semester at Southwestern Oklaho-ma State University in Weatherford as part of new student orientation.

Among the students are Shelby Dawn Rodenberg, Drummond High School; Whittney Dayne Corter, Cody Andrew Ingels and Nathaniel Lee Thompson, Enid High School; Caitlin Ann Lohrenz, Oklahoma Bible Academy; and Johnny Ray Long and Rachel Leigh Sharp, Pioneer High School.

Students must apply and be ac-cepted to SWOSU prior to enrol-ling. Those accepted can enroll July 20 and Aug. 14.





Brock earns award at OBU



Kara Brock of Enid recently received the Oklahoma Baptist University School of Nursing award for outstanding caring in her field.

A banquet was held at which Brock, along with other award-winning students, received their awards.

Seniors winning awards were chosen by their peers and presented their awards by Dr. Lana Bolhouse, dean of OBU’s school of nursing.

Brock, along with the other nursing graduates, received a bachelor of science degree during OBU’s spring commencement May 23.





2 are awarded scholarships



Haley Baumgardner has been awarded the Elizabeth Ann Meibergen memorial scholarship. Baumgardner is a freshmen majoring in ag business, with a marketing option. Her parents are Troy and Sheri Baumgardner of Carrier.

The Willis B. Johnston memorial scholarship was awarded to Jerry Cottom. Cottom’s major is ag economy and accounting. His parents are Jerry and Cheryl Cottom of Morrison.

The Meibergen family and Johnston Enterprises were two of the donors recognizing 106 students for leadership and academic skills.





Hagerman earns USAA honor



Diamond Hagerman, of Enid, has been honored by United States Achievement Academy as a student of excellence in mathematics.

Hagerman, a Longfellow Mid-dle School student, was nominated by teacher Natalie Beebe and will appear in the USAA’s yearbook, published nationally.
