Suddenlink to add 7 new HD channels

Suddenlink has announced it has added seven new high-definition channels to its cable TV lineup in Enid.

Five of the channels — broadcast station KETA-HD PBS (700), Fox Sports Oklahoma HD (750), Travel HD (759), CNBC HD (760) and Bravo HD (761) — can be found on Suddenlink’s HD Broadcast and HD Basic tiers of service. They are available free to customers who lease the equipment required to enable HD viewing and subscribe to the standard definition feeds of these same channels on Suddenlink’s Expanded Basic service. Two other channels — Universal HD (769) and Starz HD (795) — are available on Suddenlink’s HD Plus and HD Premium tiers, respectively.

These new channels add to Suddenlink’s linep of HD programming, including the HD signals of the Oklahoma City ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC affiliates, as well as the HD versions of TNT, ESPN, ESPN2, Sci-Fi, The Learning Channel, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, National Geo-graphic, Home & Garden Television, Food Network, A&E, History, HDNet Movies, HBO, Showtime and more.

HDTV offers a widescreen format, similar to a movie theater, with sharper images than standard TV. It also provides better sound quality. Not all networks or stations offer HD programming.

“We’ve made a major investment in Oklahoma in recent years, upgrading our systems to provide HDTV, faster high-speed Internet services and other products like digital video recorders or DVRs,” said Suddenlink System Manager Angela Blair.
