Rodenberg, Shuck named to roll

OKLAHOMA CITY — Shannon Rodenberg, of Drummond, and Bridget Shuck, of Enid, have been named to the President’s Honor Roll for the spring 2008 semester at Oklahoma City University.

Students must complete a minimum of 12 credit hours during a semester to meet the honor roll requirements and maintain a GPA of 3.5 to 3.749 for the Dean’s Honor Roll, 3.75 to 3.89 for the Vice President’s Honor Roll or 3.9 or higher for the President’s Honor Roll.

Students to receive OSU scholarship

Kelli Kenaga and Brandon Highfill, both of Enid; Ryan Johnson of Hunter; Chelsey Hunt of Fairview; Bobbie Jackson of Long-dale; Ashlyn Pfeiffer and Kellie Whipple, both of Alva; and Carly Schnaithman of Garber are among 120 freshmen selected to receive a $1,500 President’s Leadership Council Scholarship at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater this fall.

Kenaga, a 2008 graduate of Enid High School, is the daughter of Mark and Peggy Kenaga. She plans to major in elementary education.

Highfill, a 2008 graduate of Chisholm High School, is the son of Greg and Misty Highfill. He also has received an OSU Valedictorian Scholarship and plans to major in architecture.

Johnson, a 2008 graduate of Kremlin-Hillsdale High School, is the son of Larry and Janice Johnson. He is an Oklahoma Academic Scholar and has received an OSU President’s Distinguished Scholarship. He plans to major in biosystems and agricultural engineering.

Hunt, a 2008 graduate of Fairview Public Schools, is the daughter of Greg and Cathy Hunt. She also has received an OSU President’s Distinguished Scholarship, an OSU Joseph Fleming Memorial Scholarship, an OSU Academic Excellence Scholarship and was valedictorian of her class.

Jackson, a 2008 graduate of Canton High School, is the son of Dwight and Brenda Jackson. He also has received an OSU Academic Excellence Scholarship and an OSU President’s Distinguished Scholarship. He was co-valedictorian of his class and plans to major in management information systems.

Pfeiffer, a 2008 graduate of Alva High School, is the daughter of Jim and Annette Pfeiffer. She also has received an OSU Joseph Fleming Memorial Scholarship and an OSU Academic Excellence Scholarship. She plans to major in agricultural education.

Whipple, a 2008 graduate of AHS, is the daughter of Alan and Mandy Whipple. She also has received an OSU Regents’ Distinguished Scholarship and an OSU Joseph Fleming Memorial Scholarship. She plans to major in animal science.

Schnaithman, a 2008 graduate of Garber High School, is the daughter of Lee and Becky Schnaithman. She also has received an OSU Valedictorian Scholarship, a National Toyota Community Scholarship, a National Coca-Cola Scholarship and an Oklahoma Youth Expo Chesapeake Energy Scholarship. She plans to major in agricultural communications.

The scholarship is based upon academic achievement, leadership potential and school and community service. Each student will take a three-hour leadership class and will serve on the President’s Leadership Council, which is both an honorary and a working organization.

As part of the President’s Leadership Council, students will be expected to continue excellence in these areas as they continue to develop their personal leadership skills. Last year, students selected for the council had a combined total of 4,707 community service hours.

Walker recognized for achievement

United States Achievement Academy announced Connor Walker has been recognized for academic achievement as a United States National Honor Student Award winner.

Walker, who attends Oklahoma Bible Academy, will appear in the academy’s official yearbook, which is published nationally.

“Recognizing and supporting our youth is more important than ever before in America’s history. Certainly, United States Achievement Academy winners should be congratulated and appreciated for their dedication to excellence and achievement,” said Dr. George Stevens, academy founder.

USAA National Honor Student Awards provide honor students with many benefits and services and is a great tribute to a student’s dedication, talent and ability, said Stevens.

Walker is the son of Carroll and Vickie Walker, of Enid; the grandson of Dayle and Hazel Walker, Gilbert and Minnie Mainord, all of Enid; and Victor and Pepper Darnell, Paoli.
