WOODWARD — An escapee from William S. Key Correctional Center in Fort Supply was caught late last week after nearly a month on the run.
Kirk Hazlett, 32, escaped from the minimum-security prison the morning of May 1. He evaded capture until Friday, when he was caught in Woodward after authorities said he burglarized a home.
He is facing felony charges for escaping from the Department of Corrections and second-degree burglary.
It will be recommended Hazlett be sent to a higher-security facility while he awaits his court date, according to Linda Eike, Key spokeswoman.
Hazlett was serving time on convictions from Garfield County in 2006 for domestic violence and injury to a public building.
