Texan runs off runway

— A T-6A Texan II ran off the runway on landing at Vance Air Force Base early Tuesday afternoon. There were no injuries.
At the time of the incident, about 12:10 p.m., the aircraft was returning from a training flight. One instructor pilot and one student on board exited the aircraft without injuries. Vance emergency response personnel arrived on scene shortly after the incident to assist in recovery efforts.
The incident is being investigated.
T-6 training flights continued after the incident, but on a somewhat limited basis because of aircraft recovery efforts near the inside runway.
The T-6A Texan II is a single-engine, two-seat turboprop primary trainer produced by Raytheon Aircraft. The T-6 is the primary trainer used to train Joint Specialized Undergraduate Pilot Training students at Vance.
The T-6 was introduced at Vance in March 2005, and became the sole primary training aircraft when the last T-37 left the base in September 2006.
The last incident involving a T-6 at Vance occurred June 4, 2008, when a T-6 experienced a loss of power shortly after takeoff. While attempting an unpowered landing, the aircraft landed short of the runway and slid off into a grassy area. That accident resulted in $831,631 damage to the aircraft and minor injuries to one of the pilots.
