3 are hospitalized after 2 separate area accidents

Staff reports

Two accidents Sunday night in Grant and Woods counties resulted in three people being hospitalized.

Two Medford men were hospitalized following a two-car accident at 10 p.m. in Grant County, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

David J. Sladek, 46, and William D. Postle-waite, 50, were injured in an accident at the intersection of Apache Road and a county road. Sladek was taken by Medford EMS to Integris Hospital in Blackwell, according to an OHP report, where he was admitted with trunk and internal injuries. He was listed in serious condition. Postlewaite was taken by private vehicle to St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Enid and admitted with trunk, internal and head injuries. He was listed in stable condition according to the report.

According to the report, a 2000 Chevrolet pickup driven by Brice Alan Cless, 16, of Medford, was southbound on the county road and failed to yield right of way to the 1982 Mercedes driven by Sladek, which was traveling east on Apache. Cless’ pickup hit Sladek’s car on the driver’s side. Postlewaite was a passenger in Sladek’s car.

Cless was taken to Integris Bass Baptist Health Center in Enid by private vehicle, and was treated and released. A passenger in his truck, Cameron Killian, 15, of Medford, was not injured.

In the Woods County accident, a Burlington woman was seriously injured when the car she was riding in collided with another on U.S. 281 north of Alva.

Frances L. Kraft, 78, was transported to Share Medical Center in Alva, then to St. Mary’s with a broken neck. She was listed in critical condition, according to the OHP report.

The accident happened at 6:20 p.m. 1.2 miles north of Alva.

According to the report, a 2002 Chevrolet pickup driven by Randall Nation, 41, of Alva, was northbound on U.S. 281 and stopped to allow custom cutters to cross southbound on a narrow bridge. A 1997 Cadillac, driven by Robert Lee Kraft, 81, also was northbound and came up over a hill, striking Nation’s pickup in the rear.

Both Nation and Robert Kraft were treated at Share Medical Center and released.
