OBA seniors remember love

Kaci Kuykendall’s welcoming remarks to an overflow audience at Oklahoma Bible Academy’s 2006 high school graduation Friday rang with a theme that was touched upon several times.

“Thank you for all your love and support,” Kuykendall told family, relatives and friends.

During the course of the commencement exercise held in the private school’s auditorium, it became clear school administrators, board members and faculty had a lot of love and support for this class of 13 boys and 17 girls.

“This is a group we will sorely miss,” said Headmaster Tim Kuhns shortly before naming the Christian character award winners.

Kuhns recounted some of the senior class achievements, which included raising more than $12,000 during SPUD (Students Performing Unselfish Deeds) Week to help the cancer victim of a Kremlin family.

They also contributed approximately 3,800 hours of community service during the year, Kuhns said, adding “OBA has been very fortunate” to have a class such as this.

“We went from scared little kids to young adults,” said Shelby Phillips in her reflections of the class of 2006.

It wasn’t all somber during the 2005-06 school year.

Renae MacDonald reflected some of the fun times, such as “hanging out at Davinci’s (Coffehouse) and driving everyone crazy.”

The 2006 class valedictorians were Kuykendall, MacDonald, Phillips, Joel Jantz and Kathryn Claire Vculek.

Christian awards went to Zachary Peter Hake, Kuykendall, Elizabeth Heyen and Faith Garrard.

“These four students exemplified this class,” Kuhn said about the Christian award winners. “We’ve got an exceptional class here.”
