Enid oilman, wife named to chair Roth campaign

Staff Reports

Enid oilman Harold Hamm and his wife, Sue Ann, were named among a group of Oklahoma businessmen and women to chair the election campaign of Corporation Commissioner Jim Roth.

Joining the Hamms will be Clayton and Louise Bennett, Oklahoma City; George and Cookie Kaisar, Tulsa; and Aubrey and Katie McClendon of Oklahoma City.

Harold and Sue Ann Hamm will host a reception for Roth in their Enid home, the Kaiser’s will host a reception at their Tulsa home May 29 and the Bennetts and McClendon’s will host a reception at Oklahoma Golf and Country Club June 26.

Bennett and McClendon mailed a letter to friends endorsing Roth, saying he shares a “pro-growth goal” for Oklahoma.

“As the incumbent, he is the leader that demonstrates vision, integrity and experience necessary for the responsibility of this vision,” the letter said.

A letter from Kaiser also went out signed by supporters Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor, Stacy Schusterman, Buddy Kleemeier, Jody Parker, Jim Adelson, Stuart Price, Pete Regan and Ken Levit.

Roth said he is fortunate to have the support of that group of Oklahomans.

“They are distinguished leaders who love our state and we share the belief that Oklahoma’s best days are still ahead. I am working hard to grow Oklahoma’s economy and our energy future for the sake of every Oklahoman from every walk of life,” Roth said.

Roth is a two-term Oklahoma County Commissioner who was appointed in 2007 by Gov. Brad Henry to succeed Denise Bode, who resigned to accept a job in the private sector. Henry called Roth, 38, an ideal choice.

Oklahoma Corporation Commission regulates oil and gas drilling, utilities and telecommunications in Oklahoma.
