Police: Active meth lab found in home

An Enid man was arrested on drug complaints Friday after an officer patrolling in the area smelled a suspicious odor coming from a residence.

Enid Police Department Officer Shawn Aebi said the smell was noticeable from the street, and he was able to narrow it to a residence in the 1400 block of South Jefferson. Just as he pinpointed where the odor was coming from a white van pull into the driveway of the residence, according to an EPD press release.

Aebi confronted Christopher Michael Lee, 31, about an ether odor coming from inside his house, at which time Lee became very nervous and did not want anyone to go into his house, according to the release.

EPD’s Narcotics Unit was called, along with Enid Fire Department, and the residence was cleared. The narcotics unit obtained a search warrant for the residence, which was then ventilated, and detectives located an active methamphetamine lab in the home, according to the press release.

Detectives also discovered improvised containers of anhydrous ammonia and hydrochloride generators and some containing a two-layered liquid, in addition to numerous other chemicals and components associated with the manufacturing process, according to the release. Detectives also located items used with packaging and distributing methamphetamine.

Lee was arrested on complaints of manufacturing a controlled dangerous substance and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
