Tuma earns degree



Andrea Nicole Tuma, of Wauko-mis, received her bachelor of science degree in biological systems engineering May 10 from University of Nebraska in Lincoln. There were more than 2,400 graduating students.







Fisher earns regents scholarship



Seth Fisher, of Enid High School, has been awarded Regents’ Baccala-ureate Scholarship from Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education. Only 15 were awarded.

The scholarships are designed to cover most, if not all, costs related to attendance at SWOSU. Funding for the award is a joint venture between SWOSU and the OSRHE.

SWOSU provides recipients with tuition and residence hall scholarships for up to eight semesters. State regents provide a $3,000 annual cash award to help with expenses incurred beyond the tuition and room.

Eligible students must be Oklahoma residents and have a composite ACT score of 30 or above, be a National Merit semifinalist or commended student or be a National Achievement semifinalist or commended student.







Bryant eligible for society



Spencer Bryant, a junior at the University of Oklahoma, is scholastically eligible for membership in the petroleum engineering honors society Pi Epsilon Tau. Only the top 25 percent of students in each undergraduate class and the top 25 percent of masters and doctoral students are eligible. Bryant has been offered an internship for the summer with Apache Oil and Gas in Snyder, Texas. He is the son of Joe and Roxie Bryant, Drummond.







Highfill takes OSU honor



Carrie Highfill was awarded Kevin Wilson Memorial, Southwest Meat Association and Sam Davis Memorial Schol-arship at Oklahoma State University’s Department of Animal Science awards banquet April 5. Highfill is the daughter of Greg and Misty Highfill of Enid. Her university activities include being an Animal Science Leadership Al-liance officer and a member of Block and Bridle, Meat Science Associa-tion, Freshman in Transition 2006-07, OSU FRC and PLC 2006-07, a meat judging group and the 2007 homecoming steering committee.

More than $200,000 in scholarships were awarded at the event.







Spader earns high distinction



Violet Spader, education reporter for the News & Eagle, was accorded high distinction with her bachelor of arts degree from Concordia University, in Seward, Neb., on May 10.

Spader received her degree in communications this past December and participated in Concordia’s commencement ceremony on Saturday. High distinction is equivalent to summa cum laude.

Spader and her husband, Jim Kirk, a teacher, live in Enid.







Nault earns animal science award



Adrian Nault was given Delbert Winchester Memorial Scholarship at Oklahoma State University’s Department of Animal Science awards banquet April 5.

Nault is the daughter of Mike and Berry Nault of Enid. Her university activities included being part of the homecoming parade committee.

More than $200,000 in scholarships were awarded at the event.







Streck awarded scholarship



James Streck was given James M. Fransen Me-morial and Otha H. Grimes Memorial Scholarship at Ok-lahoma State Univ-ersity’s Depart-ment of Animal Science’s awards banquet April 5. Streck is the son of Mike and Janet Streck.

More than $200,000 in scholarships were awarded at the event.
