Blaine County crash kills man, officials report

A Jones man was killed Tuesday in a two-vehicle accident in Blaine County.

Robert Allen Spencer, 49, died of head and internal injuries at the scene, according to an Oklaho-ma Highway Patrol report.

The accident happened at 12:15 p.m. at the intersection of Okla-homa 51 and Oklahoma 51A near Southard.

According to the report, Spencer was driving a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero north on Oklahoma 51A when he failed to yield from a stop sign and was hit in the passenger side by a 1999 Dodge one-ton pickup, driven by Michael Everett Stanley, 38, of Canton, which was westbound on Oklahoma 51.

Stanley refused treatment at the scene. His father, Thomas Lane Stanley, 72, of Longdale, was treated at Okeene Hospital for arm injuries and released.

Spencer was pinned for 15 minutes before being freed by Canton Fire Department, the report states. Seat belts were in use in both vehicles.
