Hillsdale Christian School chapel program held May 7

By Brenda Hoffsommer Hillsdale correspondent

Bobby Tennell’s sixth-grade class at Hillsdale Christian School presented a chapel program May 7.

Salutes to the Christian flag, American flag and Bible were led by Adam Eaton, Blaine Whitson and Blake Klassen. Andrea Messenger gave the opening prayer. Other sixth-grade students are Jessica Carpenter, Shay Vogt and Shane Reed. The subjects of the chapel were patience, choosing friends, trust and faith. Science experiments were performed to dem-onstrate each subject. Presley Moore, Peyton Watkins, Jonny Volpe and Emilee Marlatt were chosen from the audience to help with the experiments.

Bible verses highlighting the subjects were read by each sixth-grade student. The seven sixth-graders recited Colos-sians 3:1-14 in unison, then each student gave the fifth-grade students some advice to remember as they enter their sixth-grade year.

Peggy Reid’s second-grade and Jenifer Lloyd’s first-grade classes from Hillsdale Christ-ian School took a field trip to Uptown Crown Dinner Theater in Wichita, Kan., Friday.

Amy Campbell’s Hillsdale Christian School third-grade class visited the Sod House before going on to the Campbell farm Friday. Stud-ents and parents enjoyed a picnic, fishing, building forts and playing in the pasture.

Renae Haymaker’s fourth-grade class at Hillsdale Christian School has been studying Oklahoma history this semester. Friday, they had their own “Oklahoma Day.” The 15 students made biscuits and butter from scratch, stamped their handprints on a fabric block and then sewed the blocks together to make a quilt. They also made a leather key chain and burned a design into a piece of wood. After a picnic lunch, they had a land run.

Hillsdale Christian School sixth-grade class took an end-of-year trip to Dallas May Thursday and Friday. The seven students, two teachers and parents dined at Medieval Times Dinner Theater and went to Six Flags.

-----------

The last day of classes for Hillsdale Christian School is Friday. The day will begin with a basketball game between the sixth-grade students and their parents.
