75 attend Hillsdale Bible Church salad supper

By Brenda Hoffsommer Hillsdale correspondent

Seventy-five women attended the “Friends are Flowers That Never Fade Away” salad supper April 28 at Hillsdale Bible Church. The event was decorated in a garden theme with fresh flowers adorning the tables. Kecia Holder greeted the guests as they arrived. Lark Schultz served as emcee for the evening.

Micki Collums demonstrated how to arrange a bouquet of fresh flowers. Music was provided by the McFire Sisters. Pam Stein, Christine Harris and Pam Hayes were called from the audience to participate in two of their songs. Six bouquets of flowers and two lamp- posts holding a pot of flowers were given as door prizes throughout the evening. Lark Schultz gave a short devotion titled “Three Friends” and closed with prayer.

Favors for each guest were a small potted plant, bookmark and a tract describing how to simplify life.

Karen Arrington, Ginny Wilcox, Sue Hoffsommer and Mandy Hoffsommer served on the clean-up committee.

Hillsdale Christian School (HCS) presented its annual spring program May 2. The evening began with a dinner by donation sponsored by the HCS Parent/Teacher Fellow-ship hospitality and decorating committees. During dinner, students who competed in the state speech meet gave their speeches and students who performed vocal solos at music contests sang for the guests. Following dinner, grades pre-kindergarten through sixth performed a musical program, “Song of America.” Special thanks were given to Gary Unruh, Jim Scheurer and Eileen Messenger for their donations to the preparation of the dinner.

----------

Patty Means’ Hillsdale Christian School kindergarten class took its final mission trip of the school year to Cherokee Manor April 18. Students made a bee for each resident, and took a sack lunch and enjoyed it at the park before visiting Cole’s Flowers to go with their study of plants. They were given a flowering plant to bring home and plant.

----------

Donna Thomason’s Hills-dale Christian School physical education students competed in the Pond Creek Hunter Elem-entary Track Meet April 28.

----------

Thomason’s prekindergar-ten class at HSC performed a chapel program May 1. Salutes to the Christian flag, American flag and Bible were led by Joshua Brix, Garrett Slaving and Jessica Corey. The opening prayer was given by Wyatt Groves. The 11 students began the program by singing “Praise His Holy Name” and “Every Move I Make,” with the school body joining in. They recited the verse “Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the Kingdom of Heaven” (Mat-thew 5:10).

Students performed a skit about Daniel and the lions’ den narrated by Donna Thomason. Characters in the skit were: Daniel, Morgan Meyer; the King, Garrett Slaving; the three wicked men, Noah Voth, Everett Bonine and Weston Light; the lions, Josh Brix, Mollie Burchel, Rhiannan Epps, Rachel Reimer and Wyatt Groves; the angel in the lion’s den, Jessica Corey.
