Hillsdale Christian School spring dinner, program are Friday

By Brenda Hoffsommer, Hillsdale Correspondent

The annual Hillsdale Christian School spring dinner and program will be held Friday in the Hillsdale gym. Dinner by donation will be served from 5:30 – 7 p.m. The menu includes BBQ pork, potatoes, salad, rolls, dessert and drink. The program, directed by Melanie Betts and performed by the Hillsdale Christian School students, will begin at 7:30 p.m.

--------

Donna Thomason’s pre-kindergarten class at Hillsdale Christian School performed a chapel program on April 30. Salutes to the American flag, Christian flag and Bible were led by Jack McCoy, Ashlan Light and Nathan Campbell. The opening prayer was given by Shay Skaggs. The theme of the chapel was “Joshua and the People.” The 10 students began by singing, “The Lord’s Army” and “Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho.” As Mrs. Thomason narrated, the students performed a skit about Joshua and the people marching around the wall of Jericho until the Lord made the wall fall. Students in the class are Kailee Buller, Nathan Campbell, Ethan Carpenter, David Dupire, Ashlan Light, Jack McCoy, August Roggow, Logan Seek, Shay Skaggs and Emma Tennell.

--------

Patty Means’ Hillsdale Christian School kindergarten class went to Cherokee for their last mission trip of the school year on Friday. They first visited the Cherokee Manor, gave the residents a May basket and sang some songs for them. Afterwards, in keeping with their science studies, they went to Cole’s Flowers and were allowed to plant an airplane plant and received a caterpillar flower to bring home.

--------

Amy Campbell’s third-grade class at Hillsdale Christian School took the first half of their spring field trip on April 24 and visited the Sod House in Aline. On Friday, they took the second half to Nash, where they enjoyed games and lunch.

--------

Linda Kodesh’s fifth-grade class and Bobby Tennell’s sixth-grade class at Hillsdale Christian School took a mission trip to the Voice of the Martyrs headquarters in Bartlesville on Friday. Each of the 23 students made a blanket to donate. The blankets are distributed to Sudanese Christians who have been displaced after years of conflict. The students then ate lunch at Woolaroc Museum and spent the afternoon looking at the exhibits.
