Honor society to party today

Deer Creek-Lamont National Honor Society dinner theater, “Life of the Party,” will be 6:30 p.m. today in the old gym in Lamont.

The first- and second-grade field trip will be May 19 to State Exchange Bank. Students will learn about the history of the bank and a few things they may not know about money. They also will go to Hembree Roping Arena, where Justin and Adrienne Hembree will ride and rope for them. They will end the day at the new cattle pens near Salt Fork, where they will see cattle and hear how they are taken care of.

DCLA High School vocal students competed in the state contest April 24 at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.

Ratings were: mixed chorus, superior; tenor-bass ensemble (Kolby Tebow, Chad Mendenhall, Kayl Tingley, Jake Stockwell, C.J. Hatcher, Elliot Muegge, Derek Dowell, Brenan Hutton, Andrew Coufal and Miguel Gonzales), superior; baritone solo, Kolby Tebow, superior; soprano solo, Kassy Chartier, superior.

Others who performed in the mixed chorus were Jake Blanton, Wade Perry, Alexia Pennington, Jill Hobbs, Derric Richards, Camille Krehbiel, Lindsey Campbell, Morgan Hamm, Kolton Schuelein, Lydia Looper, Kristan Travis, Trisha Loveall, Breanna Holland, Courtney Kirby, Spencer Reese, Mindy Blaser, Janise Blanton, Sabree Meade, Landon Tingley, Rachel Kirby, Hunter Whitehead, Resa Navarro, Kassy Chartier, Eli Reese, Connor Kirby, Carly Metcalf, Morgan Thompson, Halli Hodges, Morgan Collins, Kyleen Stocking, Samantha Golay, Levi Reese, Sarah Coufal, Laura Reynolds and Arian Hutton.

The vocal department also received a Distinguished Academic Achievement Award from Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Assocation for earning a 3.66 collective grade point average.

FFA banquet will be 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Elementary music spring concert will be Thursday.

Senior Baccalaureate is May 10.
