Railroad work to close part of Elm
Elm will be closed to all through traffic for a few days between 3rd and 4th streets beginning Monday to allow Union Pacific Railroad to repair its overpass track.
City officials advise motorists to use Randolph as an alternate route.
EHS Constitution Team competes in national finals this weekend
Members of Enid High School’s Constitution Team are among 1,100 high school students participating this weekend in Constitution National Finals in Arlington, Va.
Students will compete in first-round hearings today and Sunday.
The Top 10 Finalists Champion-ship round will be Monday in Can-non House Office Building on Capi-tol Hill in Washington, D.C.
Matthew Holtzen teaches the EHS class. Members include Tricity An-drew, Annie Balden, Phillip Fischa-ber, Aly Gideon, Laura Good, Steven Goodwin, Kaitlin Hill, Kathryn Ruiz, Mariam Said, Juan Sanchez, Tristan Schwartz, Amanda Siegersma, Briana Siegersma and Monte Thorson.
First-, second- and third-place classes receive trophies and individual medallions, with special awards given to other top-10 finishers at a banquet Monday evening. Non-finalist classes with top scores in each of the six units of curriculum and the five geographic regions also receive awards during the banquet.
Lincoln Award will be given to the class that scores the highest on the question about President Abra-ham Lincoln and his constitutional legacy. The question was added this year to commemorate the bicentennial of the 16th president’s birth.
Benefit dinner and silent auction for Spaeth is 4:30-8 p.m. Sunday
A benefit dinner and silent auction for heart transplant recipient Karen Spaeth will be 4:30-8 p.m. Sunday at Hitchcock school gym.
The dinner features fish, brisket and calf fries and is sponsored by Hitchcock United Methodist Church and Okeene Masonic Lodge 357.
Donations may be sent to Hitchcock United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 135, Hitchcock, OK 73744, with checks payable to Okeene Masonic Lodge 357.
Cemetery group to hold meeting
Eddy New Home Cemetery group will hold its annual meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Tonkawa library.

OBI blood drives set Wednesday
Oklahoma Blood Institute will hold two blood drives Wednesday.
Healthy Enid area residents 17 and older can donate 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the board room at North-western Oklahoma State University-Enid, 2929 E Randolph, or 3-6:30 p.m. in the bloodmobile at Denny Price YMCA, 415 W Cherokee.
All donors will receive free health screenings, Members for Life points and a “donor hero” T-shirt.
