Drummond students place in several competitions

Drummond High School students traveled to El Reno to compete in the 2009 Interscholastic Contest at Redlands Community Col-lege, placing second in the division III sweepstakes.

Individual results are T.J. Rogers, first in art display; Shelby Rodenberg, third in word processing, third in digital photography; Tim Jensen, second in computer concepts and applications; Bee Kliew-er, second in psychology, third in reading comprehension, third in vocabulary; Michael Woods, third in art display; Darcy Tuohy, second in drawing; William Neis-wanger, first in chemistry, third in plane trigonometry, second in world geography; William Morrow, third in Oklahoma history; Mitchell Earl, third in creative writing, third in U.S. government; Jill Tomlinson, second in creative writing, second in English composition (9-10), second in fundamentals of music; Me-ghan Bartnick, second in general business; Evan Mooney, third in psychology; Megan Terry, second in algebra I.

Drummond High School students traveled to North-western Oklahoma State University to compete in various tests at the 2009 Curricular Contest. Drum-mond took first overall with a total of 18 points.

Individual results are Shelby Rodenberg, eighth in English IV, ninth in computer science; Bee Kliewer, third in English IV; William Neis-wanger, first in English III, sixth in spelling, and seventh in current events; Mitchell Earl, first in American history, fourth in current events; Nicholas Mingus, seventh in English III, fourth in world history; William Morrow, fourth in Oklahoma history; Chase Kokojan, third in chemistry; Josh Armour, fifth in computer sciences, sixth in American history; Stephanie Fowler, sixth in world history; Clint Gates, first in physical science, first in agriculture; Evan Mooney, sixth in biology; Lane Young, second in agriculture; Bailie Goss, 10th in algebra I; Mallory Craig, seventh in algebra II; and Jacob Singleton, first in physical science, sixth in plane geometry.

Six members of Drum-mond FCCLA traveled to Stillwater March 28-29 to take part in the state STAR events. STAR events are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills and career preparation.

Drummond FCCLA will host a dinner, sponsored by Waukomis Masonic Lodge 161, to raise funds to send five Drummond FCCLA members to the national conference. Cost is by donation only and will be held at 6:30 p.m. April 27 in Drummond School Gym. Menu will include baked potatoes with all of the fixings, salad, cake and tea. All proceeds will benefit the Drummond FCCLA chapter.

Jill Tomlinson and William Neiswanger both received a superior on their solos at band district contests, qualifying both for state competition.
