Fairview library centennial celebration Saturday

By Jim Wilkinson, Fairview correspondent

Fairvew City Library is gearing up for its centennial celebration 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Founded in April 1909, the library has continued to expand and be an active part of Fairview’s cultural growth.

There will be wagon rides, story telling, magic show and face painting for the children. Free balloons will be available and a free lunch will include homemade ice cream. The library will be open for viewing in the city building with a book sale. Everyone is invited to attend.

---------

Fairview Lions Club has launched a project to help fire victims of Oklahoma. Spurred by efforts of club member, Butch Edingfield, the group is putting out donation buckets and setting up stations at Karl’s Grocery on State Road as well as in the main business district downtown. All proceeds will be gathered up by the local American Red Cross chapter at a later date. Local churches have been asked to announce the project and to assist as able.

Anyone who wants to contribute money to help recent victims of fires may do so by giving cash or check, payable to American Red Cross with the notation “OK Fires.”

---------

Fairview Ladies Chamber of Commerce will host its 31st annual Business Women’s Breakfast at 7 a.m. Wednesday at the Methodist church’s fellowship hall, 800 E. Elm, Fairview.

Door prizes, donated by many local businesses, will be given.

Tickets are on sale at all local financial institutions for $7 each. The public is invited to attend.
