Fairview FCCLA students compete

Fairview High School’s FCCLA STAR Events competitors braved the recent snowstorm that blanketed northwest Oklahoma March 27-28.

They were able to travel to Stillwater for the state STAR Events competition and made an excellent showing.

STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events, in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills and career preparation.

Chesnei Thomas placed first in career investigation (senior division). Winning first entitled her to compete at the national level. National competition will be conducted in Nashville in July.

Jeremy Hubble and Tanner Vasquez placed second in entrepreneurship (senior division). Larissa Austin and Emily Burggraf placed second in applied technology (senior division).

Sydney Hibbitt achieved a third place in interpersonal communications (junior division). Ashley Funk placed third in chapter service manual.

Kourtney Mondoux participated in focus on children, and Lindsey Lord participated in chapter service display.



Community



Fairview Chamber of Commerce reported the Edgar Cruz Concert at the Arts & Education Center had to be postponed until 7 p.m. April 14 due to the recent snow storm.

Tickets that were purchased for the postponed show still are good. Others may be purchased at local financial institutions for $10. Cost is $15 at the door the night of the performance.
