Area races set for Tuesday

Several races and voter propositions are on Tuesday’s ballots for municipalities in Garfield and outlying northwest Oklahoma counties.
Garfield County
• Lahoma has three trustee positions open and seven candidates. The top three will be elected, said Garfield County Election Board Secretary Wenona Marshall. Candidates for the full-term positions are Michael M. Irons, Charles Harding, Helen J. Webster, Con Pekrul, Stephen Cahoon, Trina Walker and Tisha Phipps. In the town clerk race, incumbent Karen Naugle is opposed by Myra Harding.
• In Waukomis, Bob Underwood and Larry Whitaker will contest the trustee Office No. 3 seat.
Alfalfa County
• Helena has three board of trustee seats open, with seven people running for those spots. Candidates are Chad Greb, Larry McConkey, Raymond Stonehocker, Neal Wallace, Glenn Hager, Don Frech and Cheryl D. Pettus. Town clerk Paula Burkes is being challenged by Jennifer S. Fishback for her seat.
• In Jet, town clerk Shirley J. Shaklee is being challenged by Barbara Jett.
• In Carmen, town clerk, Therese Kephart is being challenged by Cheryl Jackson.
• In Cherokee, Ward Two commissioner Donnie Elmore is being challenged by Donna McHenry Irvin. Mayor Karen Hawkins is being challenged by Mike Jantz and Rose Mary Whittet.
Kingfisher County
• Hennessey has six candidates running for three board of trustee positions. Those candidates are Mike Shaw, Stenson D. Orr, Tony Wildman, Regina S. Wanzer, Herbert E. Bradley and John R. Bert Gritz. An unexpired board of trustees seat has candidates Harold W. Shaw and Abel Moreno vying for it.
Major County
• In Fairview, David L. DeBoer and Ken LaPier are running for an unexpired city council seat.
Grant County
• In Pond Creek, Donald G. Sparks, Harold Aebi and Herb Bailey are running for the Ward One seat. Howard Halcomb and Dwayne Lee are running for Ward Three. Larry Berg and John R. Pendergraft are running for mayor.
Woods County
• In Alva, Jerrie Sue McKinley and Scott D. Brown are running for the Ward Two seat. Larry Chase and Trent Goss are running for the Ward Three seat.
• In Waynoka, Veldon L. Woolley and Dawn Hayes are running for the Ward Two seat. Vernon Selvey, Bruce Koehn and Judy Bettencourt are running for Ward Three. Karen L. Payne and Connie Valencia Lyon are running for Ward Four. Wayne Talley and Becky Ross are running for an unexpired term. Harold Lee Long, Charlene Bixler, Patricia A. Smiley and Diana M. Cook are running for mayor.
Woodward County
• In Mooreland, Richard Burrow, Gordon V. Johnson, David Strunk, Jim Tate and Jeffrey J. Prather are running for three trustee positions.
• At Fort Supply, Rhonda Dickenson and Kristi Hunter are running for town treasurer.
Blaine County
• In Watonga, Farrell Sonny Herndon is challenging Loren Parham for the Ward 3 seat. Michael E. Smith is challenging Doyle Lynn Province for the Ward 4 seat. Dale L. Green is challenging W. Richard Hightower for mayor.
• In Geary, Rebecca A. Willis is challenging Mitchell Paxton for mayor.
• In Canton, six people are running for a board of trustee position. They are Larry D. Jones, Kimberly Kaye Owens, Roger W. Gibson, Charles Surveyor, Yvonne Williams and Keith R. Long. Three people are running for an unexpired term. They are Marvin J. Ford, Gene Goben and Deborah F. Acord.
• In Longdale, Herb Hoskins, Jacque Steinbach and Janet K. Woods are running for two board of trustee seats.
• In Okeene, five people are running for three board of trustee seats. They are Trenton G. Lubbers, Mary Dungan, Willard Brownsworth, James K. Christian and Ron Hauser. Amanda J. Villarreal and Johna Grauberger are running for the treasurer’s seat.
• In Hydro, Randy Sweeney, Keith Propps and Verlin Long are running for two board of trustee seats. Wilma Lierle and Cathy Crain are running for the clerk/treasurer position.
