Supper rescheduled



Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Lions Club pancake and sausage supper has been rescheduled for 5-7 p.m. April 18 at Pioneer High School.

Any person buying tickets who cannot attend the new date may get a refund.



Blood drive Sunday



Oakwood Christian Church, 401 N. Oakwood, will host a blood drive 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

All donors will receive free health screenings, Mem-bers for Life points to re-deem at Oklahoma Blood Institute’s online store and a countdown keychain set to flash 56 days later as a reminder the donor is eligible to give blood again.



Convention Saturday



Garfield County Demo-cratic Party Convention will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kaffee Klatsch, 101 N. Grand.

The event is open to any registered Democrat in Garfield County.

In addition to election of county leadership, delegates and alternates to the 2009 congressional and state conventions will be chosen.



Fundraiser supper slated



Ringwood Fire Depart-ment’s annual pancake and sausage fundraising supper will be 5-7 p.m. Saturday.

The event, at 200 N. Main, is sponsored by the department and Ringwood Masonic Lodge. Cost is by donation. An auction of handmade quilts and homemade pies will begin at 6:30 p.m. Wiggins Auctioneers will handle the auction.



Alumni reunion Saturday



Billings Alumni Associa-tion will hold its 94th annual alumni reunion Saturday at Billings Community Center. Klein’s Catering Service of Perry will cater the noon meal. Registration is 11 a.m.

All alumni and family are welcome to attend. Special anniversary years include 50, 40, 30, 20 and 10. For reservations, contact Andrea Mc-Cluskey at (580) 725-3487.

The highlight will be an auction of memorabilia from the special anniversary classes. Money raised will go to Billings Alumni Assoc.

Graduates from 1999, 1989, 1979, 1969 and 1959 and family have a special invitation.



Hunter event Saturday



Hunter Volunteer Fire-fighters Association will host its 29th annual calf and fish fry dinner at 5 p.m. Saturday at the fire department. Menu includes calf fries, fried fish, French fries, baked beans, coleslaw, hush puppies, cake, tea and coffee. Cost is by donation.



Book part of celebration



Rachel Carson’s controversial book “Silent Spring” will be part of Earth Day celebration at Public Library of Enid and Garfield County starting April 17.

The Lunch at the Library book discussion will focus on “Silent Spring.” Anyone interested can check out a copy of the book, then bring a brown bag lunch at noon April 17 to discuss the book.

At 6 p.m. April 22, the library will show “A Sense of Wonder,” a movie about Carson’s love for the natural world and her fight to defend it. The movie will be shown in the Great Plains Room.

Style show today



First United Methodist Church, 401 W. Randolph, will host a vintage style show at 6:10 p.m. today in the fellowship hall.
