Powerful storm stalls, county gets up to 7 inches of snow

— A spring storm expected to shed a foot or more of snow across Northwest Oklahoma stalled Friday evening, leaving an estimated 4 to 5 inches of wet snow in the Enid area.
OG&E Electric Services reported sporadic power outages during the storm in Enid, Kremlin, Hillsdale and Medford of 50 to 80 customers.
Enid and Garfield County Emer-gency Management Director Mike Honigsberg said the area received winter weather from freezing rain and drizzle to snow during the storm.
He said areas of the county received up to 7 inches of snow.
�Depending on where you were in Enid you got 3 to 6 or 7 inches of snow,� Honigsberg said. �We really lucked out on this thing.�
The storm system ended Saturday morning and by afternoon all major roads in Enid had been cleared, with some slush and snow remaining on neighborhood streets.
Enid Police Department Sgt. Warren Wilson said police had not worked any injury accident by 3:30 p.m. Saturday but had received multiple calls reporting trees downed. Three calls were also received reporting downed cable or power lines.
Enid officers responded to three motorist assists, where drivers either left the roadway or were stuck.
Heavy snow closed roads west of Enid, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported.
Roads closed included: U.S. 412 west of Orienta, U.S. 281 north and south from Alva and south from Waynoka to Seiling, U.S. 60 west of Fairview, U.S. 64 through Woods and Alfalfa counties and Oklahoma 45 from Oklahoma 8 to Oklahoma 58 or Helena.
The patrol reported all roads in Cimarron, Texas, Beaver and Harper counties were also closed due to snowfall. Most all had been opened by Saturday even-ing, however.
The snow also closed Vance Air Force Base Saturday, canceling scheduled events on the base.
