4 arrested on meth charges

By Cass Rains Staff Writer

Four people arrested during the execution of a search warrant Thursday night by Enid Police Department narcotics officers at 1314 E. Maple were charged in district court Monday.

Kandace Kay Taylor, 25; Adam Dale Tweedy, 33; and Angela Lanelle Nelson, 32, each were charged with felony unlawful possession of a controlled drug (methamphetamine) with intent to distribute and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Garland Leslie Sellers, 48, was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), maintaining a place for keeping/selling a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police served the warrant at 9:44 p.m. and took the four into custody.

Nelson, who had an outstanding felony warrant, was found in the bathroom of the house, according to the affidavit. In her purse, a false-bottom hair spray can was found containing several coin bags that contained a crystalline substance and a glass pipe, according to the affidavit.

Another glass pipe and more coin bags were found on the floor next to where Nelson was sitting, according to the affidavit. A hand-written note with names and dollar amounts also was found in Nelson’s purse.

Police found $567 in Nelson’s purse in cashiers checks and cash, and $170 more was found during her booking, according to the affidavit.

During the search of a bedroom, where Tweedy and Sellers ran when police entered, officers found three used syringes in a coat hanging by a bed, according to the affidavit. Two coin bags containing a crystalline substance were found in another pocket of the same coat, the affidavit states.

Officers found mail addressed to Sellers bearing the house’s address in the same bedroom, as well as a working surveillance system with two televisions showing a live feed from the cameras, the affidavit states.

Taylor was arrested near a food bag that contained an eyeglass case with syringes, coin bags of a crystalline substance and a cellophane wrapper containing a green, leafy substance, according to the affidavit.

The first substance tested positive for methamphetamine and the second tested positive for marijuana, according to the affidavit.

Because of five alleged prior felonies, Nelson faces six years to life for her drug charge. Her bond remained at $250,000, and she was ordered to appear again April 5 for a bond appearance.

Tweedy’s bond was lowered to $150,000. It had been set at $250,000 Friday before charges were filed. He was ordered to appear again March 29 for a bond appearance.

Taylor is free on $25,000 bond and was ordered to appear again April 5.

Tweedy and Taylor both face two years to life in prison and/or a fine of up to $20,000 for their felony drug charges.

Sellers was given a $50,000 bond and ordered to appear again April 5 for a bond appearance.

He faces two to 10 years and a fine of no more than $10,000 for his drug charge and another fine of up to $10,000 and up to five years imprisonment for the maintaining a house charge.
