Head Country ribs being sold by Covington-Douglas class

The Covington-Douglas junior class is selling slabs of ribs from Head Country Barbecue for $17.50 a slab. Contact any junior to place an order. Payment is due at the time of order. Proceeds will be used for the junior-senior prom.

Earl Murphy and Jeffery Jordan received the State Farmer Award at the state FFA Convention recently.

Covington-Douglas slow-pitch softball will begin Monday with the Lady Cats hosting Crescent at 4 p.m. On Tuesday, they will host Kremlin-Hillsdale; on March 5, they will host Waukomis; and on March 6, they will host Drummond.

First Baptist Church has purchased a new church bus. They also held a men’s breakfast Sunday with 17 men attending.

The youth group of First Baptist will attend Winter Jam in Oklahoma City today, with 25 youth going. Diana Millsap is youth director.

Churchs in Covington have announced Vacation Bible School dates for later this summer. United Metho-dist will hold Vacation Bible School July 20-24; First Baptist is planning Vacation Bible School for July 27-31; and St. John’s Lutheran will hold Vacation Bible School Aug. 3-7.

An Ash Wednesday service was held Wednesday at St. John’s Lutheran Church with a message titled “Bondage.” A Lenten meal was served. Lenten service message will be “Deliverance” at 7 p.m. March 4 with a Lenten meal at 6 p.m.
