EPD investigates 2 restaurant burglaries

Enid Police Department is investigating two burglaries of Enid restaurants that occurred late last week.

Imperial China, in the 500 block of South Van Buren, reported between 10 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday, someone pushed in an air conditioner unit and entered the restaurant.

Yujuan Xu told police the person took a cash register and a cash bag, according to an EPD report. Xu said the person then turned on a water spout under the buffet tables, flooding the kitchen and buffet areas.

The person then cut a padlock off a door and left the restaurant.

Estimated loss and damages from the burglary are $760.75, according to the report.

Saturday afternoon, police recovered the cash register stolen from Imperial China.

About 1:25 p.m., officers recovered the register behind the New Hope United Methodist Church, in the 600 block of North Garland.

The Original Macarena, located in the 2700 block of West Garriott, reported someone broke out a window on the west side of the restaurant between 10:15 p.m. Friday and 8:30 a.m. Saturday, according to police reports.

The person then pried open a cash register, taking about $200 in cash and $220 in change. Estimated loss and damages from the burglary are $770, the report states.

“It looks like these are probably related,” said EPD Capt. Dean Grassino.
