Bond issues on the ballot for Fairview, Seiling voters

By Violet Spader

Staff Writer

Two northwest Oklahoma school districts will have bond issue proposals on the ballot Tuesday, in addition to the Republican and Democratic presidential primary candidates.

In Fairview, voters will decide a $1.85 million bond issue. According to Superintendent Rocky Burchfield, the money would go for renovation and additions to the high school gymnasium. Burchfield said 3,000 square feet would be added to the entrance area of the gym. This would add new restrooms and a concession area.

In Seiling, voters will decide a $700,000 bond issue. The money, Superintendent Bob Bush said, would be paired with a $3 million donation from an alumna to build a new gym.

A big part of the money would go toward building a large parking lot to encircle the new gym, Bush said. Other projects the money would fund include a heating and cooling system, a new roof for the auditorium, renovating the running track, furnishing the new gym and finishing a baseball field.

Area school districts also are holding board elections Tuesday. Races include:

Canton Office 3 — Delana Canada and John Boettler.

Cashion Office 3 — Larry Thorp, David Rising and Terri Arms.

Deer Creek-Lamont Office 3— Kirk Schuelein and Ray Webster.

Dover Office 3 — Greg Terrill and Teri R. Johnson.

Fargo Office 3 — Wesley Crain, John Rakestraw and Troy Currier.

Hennessey Office 3 — Rodney Walker, Patty Thompson, Ray Cordry and Luke Lough.

Hennessey Office 5 — David Cofer and Rochelle K. Smith.

Moore-land Office 3 — Brett A. Bates and Dustin Don-ley.

Pond Creek-Hun-ter Office 3 — Gary L. Williams, Ray-mond Parrish and Curtis Pet-erson.

Sharon-Mutual Office 3 — Lee Vanderwork, Daisy Adams and Frank Lamberth.

Waynoka Office 3 — Wesley Kruckenberg and A.J. Ferguson.

In addition to the school elections, voters in two counties will have other issues to decide.

Voters in Blaine County will have two propositions — one for landline phones and one for cell phones — concerning creation of countywide Enhanced 911 service.

Voters in Woods County will decide among five candidates to fill the unexpired term for District 2 county commissioner. Candidates are John Farris, Kirk Brown, Sherrie Woodard, Rodney Vogts and Randy McMurphy.
