Hillsdale students present a program on Moses’ life

By Brenda Hoffsommer Hillsdale correspondent

Amy Campbell’s third grade class at Hillsdale Christian School presented a chapel program Jan. 7.

The center of the program focused on Moses and the life of faith he led. A skit was performed by the students. Characters were narrator, Jayden Dillon; angels, Jessica Buller, Lauren Bonine, Carissa Streck, Elah Alcuitas, Heather McCullough and Peyton Watkins; Moses, Brendan Zelnicek; and people in Moses’ life, Montell Meyer, Joshua Reimer and Joseph Smith.

A video of all the students performing acts that represented good choices and bad choices was shown. The class then recited Matthew 5:16. Jett Thompson, the 12th member of the class, was ill and not present to perform.

----------

Patty Means’ Hillsdale Christian School kindergarten class walked to the post office Jan. 9 as part of their study of community helpers. Patricia Janes, postmaster, explained to the 13 students different aspects of the post office. In the classroom before the trip, each student made a mailbag and wrote a letter. They mailed the letter while at the post office.

The students took their monthly mission trip Jan. 16 to Cherokee Manor. Each one made a bear holding a Bible with “Love Bears All Things” printed on the bear. After singing to residents and distributing the bears, the students visited Cherokee Police Depart-ment to learn about another community helper. They met the mayor of Cherokee, saw the inside of an ambulance and learned about the 911 system.

----------

Emily Buller’s Hillsdale Christian School fifth- and sixth-grade basketball teams traveled Jan. 8 to Wakita. HCS hosted Pond Creek-Hunter on Thursday. The Hillsdale Eagles won both the girls and boys games each day.

----------

A representative of OG&E Electric Services presented a safety program to the third- through sixth-grade classes at Hillsdale Christian School Jan. 13.

Church

Hillsdale Bible Church Ladies Missionary Society met Jan. 13 for its monthly meeting. Yamu Sackman, a missionary from India, spoke briefly.

Leland Streck, director of Hope Outreach Day Center, explained how those in need are helped at the center.

Hostesses for lunch were Joy Dennis and Treva Swanson.

Bandages were packaged, stamps were cut and teaching materials were boxed and mailed to Salvage Missions.

Community

Hillsdale Booster Club will meet at 10 a.m. today at Hillsdale Community Building.

Officers for the coming year will be elected.
