One woman was killed and her two passengers seriously injured after the sport utility vehicle she was driving struck a tree just off a county road southwest of Longdale Friday afternoon, according to Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Carol Ann Nelson, 42, Longdale, died at the scene of the one-vehicle crash shortly after 4 p.m. Friday, an OHP report states. Nelson was driving a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban west on a county road a little more than a mile west of Oklahoma 58 southwest of Longdale in Blaine County.
The SUV ran off the right side of the road, then Nelson overcorrected, causing the vehicle to go into a broad slide and strike a tree.
Investigators listed driving under the influence of alcohol as the cause of the crash.
Passenger Angela Sue Ruiz, 42, Longdale, was in serious condition late Saturday at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center. She suffered head and arm injuries.
Nickolas Coy Hough, 21, Canton, also a passenger in the vehicle, was in fair condition after he was flown to OU Medical Center with head, internal and external trunk injuries and arm and leg injuries. Hough was pinned for about 11⁄2 hours after the crash.
Nelson was wearing a seat belt. Her passengers were not, according to the report.
