A Seiling man has been sentenced to three years in federal prison after pleading guilty to embezzling money from the Cheyenne and Arapaho tribes.
Roy D. Bullcoming, 54, had served as a business committee representative, representing the tribal membership of Cheyenne District 1. He also served as a ceremonial peace chief for the Cheyenne Tribe.
He pleaded guilty in August 2008 of taking funds from the tribe, including gaming revenue from the Lucky Star Casinos.
He was indicted in February 2008.
According to John C. Richter, U.S. attorney for the Western District of Oklahoma, Bullcoming used the embezzled money for the improper purchase of vehicles for himself and others, for payments to family members and others, and for travel expenses to conferences and training he did not attend.
In addition to the three-year prison term, Bullcoming will serve three years of supervised release upon his release from prison and pay restitution of $101,585.68. He will begin serving his sentence Feb. 18.
