2 hospitalized after vehicle, motorcyle accidents

A Geary woman was hospitalized in Watonga following a one-vehicle accident Sunday evening.

According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Sheila Kay Nuzum, 53, was southbound on a county road three and one-half miles south of Watonga in Blaine County when she lost control of her vehicle and rolled twice before coming to a rest.

Nuzum was transported to Watonga Hospital by Blaine County EMS, then transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

She was listed in stable condition, according to the report.

The cause of the accident was listed as unsafe speed on a gravel road, according to the report. She was wearing her seat belt.

OHP also worked a motorcycle accident Saturday night in Grant County.

Philip R. Lawrence Sr., 57, of Edmond, was admitted to St. Mary’s Regional Health Center in Enid in serious condition with head and internal trunk injuries, according to the report.

According to an OHP report, Lawrence was southbound on Oklahoma 132 three miles south of Manchester when he failed to negotiate a curve, ran off of the road and ended up in a ditch.

He was ejected three feet where his 1997 Yamaha ended up and was not wearing a helmet, according to the report. The cause of the accident was listed as unsafe speed.
