Police should abide by law as well as enforcing it

— Tonight while leaving Braum’s parking lot, I watched a police car pull out of the parking garage across Garriott and head north on Washington. I pulled out behind it and headed in the same direction. All three traffic lights were red on Washington. The officer pulled up to the first RED light, stopped, then went. He then pulled up to the second red light, stopped, then went. The third turned green by the time he got there so no need to run it.
Last I checked, when a traffic light is red, that means you stop until it turns green, then you go. The car didn’t have its lights or sirens on. So why the need to run not just one red light, but two. I would understand if the officer was going to a call and needed to be discreet, but at least run with your lights on until you get a couple of blocks away. That way when you blow through stop lights it looks like there is a reason for it.
I didn’t know that officers got to pick which laws they were going to follow and which ones they weren’t. For the people enforcing the law, they don’t do a good job abiding by it.
