Enid has tried recycling before, but had poor results

I would like to comment on the article in Sunday’s April 20 newspaper about the trash pickup.

The city tried the recycling bit a few years ago. Trailers with compartments for recyclable items were purchased – that didn’t last long. Next came the blue boxes for every household to recycle and that failed. Money wasted! Now we are trying another method. How much did this cost us, the taxpayers?

The polycarts will be in the way of the mail trucks and will take away visitor parking in front of residences. What if the carts aren’t put out exactly like they are supposed to be? Will the truck pass them by? Elderly persons will have a hard time getting the cart back and forth. What happens if carts are blowing around in the street? Guess we dodge them and hope we don’t get hit by one or cause an accident.

If one cart isn’t sufficient, why do I have to pay for another one when I already pay for trash pickup?

At gas prices, why would anyone drive across town to recycle a few things – not I. Trash smells regardless of what it is in.

Also, with this new program, people will haul trash out to the country and dump it in the ditches and by bridges. Costs money to have it cleaned up.

The city needs to get the dead cedar bushes out of the closed railroad crossings on Maine and Cherokee – newly planted bushes need water.

Oh yes, let’s try the loop downtown one more time – maybe it will work this time!
