Get tough on illegal immigrants, they’re breaking the law

RE: Friday, March 31, front page
The picture of the illegal aliens after being apprehended and all they received was a traffic ticket – all I can say is “Wow!” I guess it is okay to be in the USA illegally and just get a traffic ticket. I could not believe my eyes as I read the caption for the picture. These are “illegal” aliens. Webster defines illegal as contrary to law, action violating law, unlawfulness. Isn’t being here illegally contrary to law? Webster also defines police as enforcing laws, in charge and prosecuting crime. Did our police enforce the law? I always thought if you broke the law it was an illegal action. Don’t get me wrong, I have many friends in the police department and they do a tremendous job, but this did a lot of harm to their overall image. I believe it also sends a message to other illegal aliens that it “must be okay to drive through Enid, because if you are stopped, you just get a ticket!”
The article went on to say the reason they were let go was because the INS didn’t have anyone available to pick them up. Does Enid not have a nice big jail that could have held them until the authorities could get them?
Please, get tough on these people – they are breaking the law!
