If you’re reading this, it is likely you have experienced sexual abuse. One out of three girls and one out of four boys will have been sexually abused in their lifetime. That statistic is based only on reported cases of sexual abuse. Sadly, most cases never get reported.
Because we live in a sinful world everyone has experienced their share of suffering. And, we all want to know the same thing.
“Where was God when I was being abused?” and “How could a loving God allow bad things to happen in the first place?
First, you have to understand God gives everyone free will. That means He allows people to make their own choices. Your perpetrator made the choice to abuse you. Secondly, let me assure you your situation did not go unnoticed.
In Matthew 18:10 it says, “See that you do not look down on one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven.”
There were angels pleading before the Father on your behalf. And, you can be sure your perpetrator will receive justice.
In Matthew 18:6 it says, “If anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.”
It makes God angry to see His children hurt. He does not let it go unnoticed. He loves you and wants to help heal your wounds.
Sometimes, it can take years before we stop being angry at God. He wants you to know He has not forgotten about you. There will be days when you feel like He has.
But, His grace is always there to help you through your weakest days. If you can find the tiniest amount of faith, and can find the strength to believe, for one second, that God loves you, it will change your life. I promise.
Thank you to every survivor for your brilliance, courage and strength in the midst of unbelievable circumstances. It is you who gives me hope for this world.
