Betty Irene Bryant Eckhardt will celebrate her 90th birthday with a come-and-go reception for family and friends 2-4 p.m. Sunday  in the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church, Cherokee. Cards may be sent to 905 S. Pennsylvania, Cherokee, OK 73728. She requests no gifts.  

Betty was born Oct. 12, 1923, the youngest of three daughters, to Charles G. and Daisy I. Bryant, in Andover, Kan.  

She was raised in Andover and graduated from Andover High School in 1941. Following graduation, she attended Kansas Business College in Wichita, Kan.  

Betty married Wendell B. (Bruce) Eckhardt March 22, 1942. Shortly thereafter, he joined the Army during World War II, and together they maintained residences in Milwaukee, Wis., Biloxi, Miss., and Louisville, Ky. Later, while he was deployed overseas, she was employed at Beech Aircraft in Wichita. They returned to the Cherokee area in 1946.

She was a homemaker and worked for Farmers Exchange Bank in Cherokee 1968-1985, retiring as assistant cashier.  

She is a member of First United Methodist Church, Cherokee; United Methodist Women; Oklahoma Order of Eastern Star; The Lunch Bunch; and is a past member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority; the Jolly Neighbors organization of Ingersoll; and the Farmerettes Home Demonstration Club of Cherokee.  

She enjoys watching the Texas Rangers, Oklahoma City Thunder and Oklahoma college football teams, playing cards, reading, shopping and Sunday dinners with her honorary family, the Dean Stands extended family, of Cherokee.

Her children are Nancy (James) Leslie, Enid; Keith (Mary) Eckhardt, Fairview; Anita (Rolfe) Reitz, Enid, and Ron (Karen) Eckhardt, Cherokee. She has 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, four stepgrandchildren, and 12 stepgreat-grandchildren.
