Mooney, 90

Emma “Susie” Mooney celebrated her 90th birthday with a family dinner at Chili’s. A surprise visit of her out-of-state daughters was arranged.

Emma was born Jan. 26, 1923, on the family farm northeast of Loyal, the youngest child of Charles and Emilie Wehrenberg.

She attended Prairie Star School, University High School on the OU campus for one semester and Loyal High School.

She moved to California in 1946, where she currently lives. She also spends part of the year in Enid at the home of her son.

Her children are Dennis Hamil and wife Marie, Enid; Carolyn Cassell, San Diego; and Sharon Piazza, Atlanta. She has eight grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Simpson, 85

Charles E. “Bud” Simpson will celebrate his 85th birthday with a reception for family and friends from 2-5 p.m. Sunday, in the fellowship hall at Lahoma First Baptist Church. Cards may be sent to 1523 N. 90th St., Enid, OK 73701.

Bud was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Shawnee, the son of Charles and Della Simpson.

He was raised near Enid and attended North Enid and Kremlin schools.

He began riding bulls and roping in 1944, and was on the rodeo circuit for many years. He also raised and trained horses.

In 1946, he went to work for Champlin Refinery, retiring early in 1982.

He married Dorothy Walters Aug. 17, 1951, at Davis Park Church in Enid She died in 2006.

Their children are Debbi Toews and husband Francis, Lahoma, and Brad Simpson and wife Richelle, Fairmont.
