Challenge yourself to discover your purpose

There are times when life causes us to stop and question our faith.

Just watching the news can give a person enough reason to doubt. Children are so desperate they are bringing guns to school, men are blowing themselves up in the name of religion and women are trading themselves for drugs.

I can’t help but feel a sense of anger at the injustice of it all. I have found myself shaking my fist and crying, “God why don’t you do something? Look at all these homeless people. And, what about the kids who aren’t getting enough to eat? They want to put a statue of Satan at the Capitol for goodness sake!”

Then I heard God reply, “Why don’t YOU do something about it?”

You see, God has chosen to make a difference on this earth through us. If we want things to change, we have to put our faith into action. We are to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

James 2:14-17 says, “What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them? Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you says to them, ‘Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it? In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

I believe there is so much untapped potential in the body of Christ we have no idea what could be accomplished if we were willing to give ourselves whole-heartedly to the work of the Lord. There are ideas and strategies that haven’t even been discovered yet!

God has given everyone a dream. Your dream might be writing a book, opening a business, or running your first 5K. Whatever your dream is, you can be assured God has given you everything you need to achieve it. God has called every one of us to make a difference in the kingdom of God.

Challenge yourself this year to discover your purpose. Then go and do something about it!
