Sandy Cove Christmas slated
The Canton and Longdale communities and churches will present their drive-through living nativity pageant 6-8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“A Sandy Cove Christmas” is presented in a natural setting in the Sandy Cove camping area, located on the north side of Canton Lake.
Along with the llamas, donkeys, sheep, goats and cattle, 50-75 people will depict the birth and life of Christ. There are 11 scenes, beginning with the Angel’s announcement to Mary, followed by the Angel’s announcement to the Shepherds, Mary and Joseph traveling to Bethlehem, the Wise Men, the Inn, the Manger scene, the Last Supper, the Crucifixion, the open tomb and ending with the Ascension and a choir.
The Sandy Cove Christmas offers a free tram ride for people who will ride through the scenes on a train.
To get to the train, follow Oklahoma 58 to the Living Waters Worship Center, east of Canton Lake Dam. A bus will pick riders up and take them to Sandy Cove where they will board a tram. After the tour, tram riders will board the bus and return to their cars. The tram has the right of way over other cars.
All non-traffic will be delivered to Thunder Road to avoid congestion around the tram pick-up point.
Enter the Sandy Cove camping area by way of Thunder Road. To enter Thunder Road from Canton take Oklahoma 51 east to theOklahoma 58 junction. Take Oklahoma 58 north to Longdale, turn west at the Blackjack Cafe and Jiffy Trip and go approximately three miles to Thunder Road. Turn left onto Thunder Road to enter Sandy Cove.
No one will be allowed to enter from the exit route, which is Oklahoma 58A.
