Kudos for 5/3/09

Emergency personnel did great in Kremlin



I would like to thank everyone who helped during the emergency situation at Kremlin April 25. Thank you to the Kremlin Fire and Rescue Department for their advance warnings on the approaching tornadoes. It didn’t stop there!

After the storm they were checking houses and asking people if they were OK and assisting anyway they could. I’m not sure who our fire chief is but I do know Chris Henry was the one asking if we were all right. The next day our fire and rescuer team was helping OG&E Electric Services locate where downed power lines were. A very big thank you to these men who leave their families to help others.

The Salvation Army for their meals on wheels — a sandwich and the cold, cold water was a blessed sight. It was all wonderful. It’s amazing how a sandwich can taste like a steak! Thank you.

To OG&E for their endless work. Their work still goes on to restore electric to the remaining parts of Kremlin. Thanks guys for the thumbs-up when you drove by our house. It was encouraging!

A big thank you to our neighbors for allowing us in their basement. Also for calling us to return after we came home before the tornado actually hit. It proves never let your guard down. Tornadoes are unpredictable!

Thank you to everyone who called to see if we were all right and offered to come help us. We love you all.

I’m sure we speak for the whole town when we say thank you to everyone and anyone we forgot to mention.

Nursing staffs at Bass are great



I am writing as a retired nurse to praise the professionalism of the nursing staffs in the Intermediate Care Unit and Skilled Nursing Unit at Integris Bass Baptist Health Center. I now have been a patient in these two units on second floor for more than a month and these women and men consistently have responded to me with cheerfulness, compassion and expertise.

Although my health crisis has been personally disturbing, I am so glad to have had the wonderful care provided by these nursing staffs. My experience here has reinforced the pride I have always had in my profession. It gives me great pleasure to use National Nurses Week, May 6-12, to thank them in this public way.
