Conference set Saturday
Wheat Capital Early Childhood Association of Oklahoma will have its 15th annual Advocates for Children conference Saturday at Cherokee Strip Conference Center.
Keynote speaker is Brenda Bird, who will present “Growing Great Children with Love, Logic and Laughter.” Her address will be 8:15 to 9:45 a.m. at the conference center, 123 W. Maine.
The conference will begin with registration from 7:30-8 a.m. Other sessions are planned for 10-11 a.m., 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., 1:30-2:30 p.m. and 2:45-3:45 p.m. Other sessions include “Nurturing Seeds of Greatness,” by Bird; “You Bag It,” and “Tracy’s Tightwad Tips,” by Tracy Hinton; “Autism: 1 in 166, It’s Real,” by Mansur Choudry; “Making Friends, Building Attachments,” by Connie O’Brien; and “Simple Baby Signs,” by Becky Munday.

Lunch of loaded baked potatoes, desserts and drinks will be provided for a fee.
Lodge to host fundraiser
Waukomis Masonic Lodge No. 161 will host a steak dinner for Enid Assembly No. 17, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls at 6 p.m. Saturday at Waukomis Christian Church.
Lodge members will soon be applying for matching funds to help the girls with expenses for Grand Assembly in May.
Dinner is $15 per person or $25 per couple couple. The meal consists of ribeye steaks, baked potatoes, salad, vegetable, hot rolls, desserts and a drink.
