Lemonade for a cause

ENID, Okla. — Pick a color — pink or yellow. Robert and Cheri Gober, along with their seven children, are selling lemonade, popcorn and cotton candy to raise money for 4RKids.

“It’s really fun,” said Luke, 10.

Robert constructed a lemonade stand, and the whole family helped to paint it, naming the structure “The Sweet Shop.” The stand will sit in the Gobers’ driveway at 733 W. Hickory through Saturday, starting at 1 p.m. each day.

“It teaches them responsibility and giving,” Cheri said.

All of the Gober kids help serve customers and handle money.

Mariah Smith, a friend of the Gober family, stopped at their stand Wednesday to buy some lemonade and support the Gobers’ cause.

“They’re doing a good thing,” Smith said.

The Gober family will donate 75 percent of their earnings to 4RKids after the stand closes. Then, the Sweet Shop will be moved into the backyard for the kids.
